Bouchon Love
Monday, October 27, 2008 at 10:53AM After hosting a terrific birthday brunch at Bouchon Bakery Cafe in The Time Warner Center this weekend, I can't help but do a posting about how much I L-O-V-E Bouchon. I have two favorite pastry chefs and they are - Chef Capizzi from Bouchon (who also designed my wedding cake at Per Se and made a special appearance at my bash) and Tawny Ong (I heart you Tawny!).
During the past week and a half or so, I brought you fabulous cupcakes from Tawny; this week, I bring you gorgeous goodies from Bouchon!
First up, Red Velvet fans...if I were the type to swear on important people's lives, I would when I tell you the best Red Velvet cake I have ever had in my life is Chef Capizzi's ridiculously rich, moist and indulgent Red Velvet layer cake with lots of fabulous vanilla bean infused cream cheese frosting! Run, don't walk, to Bouchon Bakery to order this cake for your up coming holiday soirees and birthday bashes! It is hands down one of the best desserts I've had in my life, including many a gorgeous dessert at Per Se. Next up, a divine dark chocolate mousse cake... I'm sure you can get this at Bouchon or order it via Bouchon Bakery even though it was an anniversary cake presented to us on our 1st Anniversary dinner at Per Se... so decadent and pure...not overly sweet and ridiculously smooth...and there seriously are few things on earth as beautiful as this cake.
Lastly, special Macarons...if you place a catering order at Bouchon Bakery, you can either ask for recommendations or dream up flavors of your own...my special flavors for this past weekend's brunch? (stay tuned later this week for a full coverage!) Rose-Raspberry, Ovaltine (how fun???) and Hibiscus with a dark chocolate ganache (very sophisticated if I say so myself!).
Have a peek and try not to drool! Enjoy!
